Welcome to St Martin Chalets

If you love the idea of an Austrian Alpine holiday then we like to think we offer something a little bit different when it comes to self-catering here in the Austrian Alps. Our ten luxury chalets are fully equipped for the most demanding self-catering holidaymakers, but we also receive a lot of bookings from people who prefer hotels and catered Austrian holidays.

Best of Both Worlds

About 70% of our guests come back year-after-year, which is a fact we are most grateful for and one reason for that is our service. Most self-catering holidays involve picking up keys from an agreed location, letting yourselves in and looking after yourselves for the duration of your stay. At St Martin Chalets, we like to go that extra mile, helping you enjoy the finest Austrian holidays and hospitality going. We go out of our way to give our guests a holiday worth coming back for, which means we’ll stock your cupboards before you arrive, we’ll deliver freshly baked bread rolls every morning and we’ll even arrange for a hot meal to be prepared for you in your chalet.

In addition to that we’ll light your fires so your chalet will be warm when you get back, sort out child care, have your equipment delivered and fitted in your chalet… We like to think of it as the best of both worlds – you have all the benefits of a catered chalet, yet you can eat out in town or get carried away with apres-ski without feeling guilty about missing an evening meal.

We are situated on-site ourselves (our house is adjacent to the St Martin Chalets resort) and you’ll usually find us nearby or busying ourselves in the resort reception, so if you need anything we are never far away. So come and have a look around our wonderful resort (even if we say so ourselves!)

Lungau – The Real Austria

Despite being only one hour’s drive from both Salzburg and Klagenfurt airports, our region, Lungau, doesn’t have the same recognition as other parts of Austria. Nestled beneath some of the highest peaks in the country, the area offers travellers a combination of reliable snow, unspoilt scenery and access to a truly authentic Alpine way of life. This is real Austria. People wear lederhosen here because they always have, not because the visitors think it’s quaint. Here the locals still appreciate (and are friendly to) tourists. Above all, you will experience exactly why the Austrian Alpine region of Lungau has been awarded UNESCO Biosphere status thanks to the way our communities and nature interact and the organic principles with which the people of Lungau approach farming and tourism alike. The surrounding Austrian mountains, wildlife and landscapes are stunning and we want to keep it that way!

Things to do

Naturally during the winter there is skiing and we can happily help you book your lift passes, equipment and even arrange ski school for your little ones.
However Lungau also boasts plenty to do during the summer months too, many of which are free! We’ll happily take you hiking, mountain biking, book up your golf or just help you get fit and healthy!

Lungau also boasts a packed calendar of local festivals and events all-year-round, and while you explore the mountains you can get a meal of home-baked bread, home-churned butter, home-cured hams and home-made cheeses. You will experience things in Lungau that you simply won’t find in other parts of Austria. That, we believe, is why we have so many repeat customers. Once people have been here once, they keep coming back!

In 2012 this region was named an official UNESCO Biosphere region – a title it was awarded for its wild, natural beauty and commitment to sustainable development. You can see this commitment everywhere you go. We hope you see if one day for yourself. If you have any questions or would like more information, please send us an email via our contact form. We live and work in the resort all-year-round, so we are the ones answering your emails and we’ll be the ones guiding you up the mountain. That’s the way we like it.

Happy holidays!
