Aineck is the mountain that gives St Martin Chalets its lovely views – nearly all of our chalets look out on its northern slopes – but it’s also an important part of our ski area. You can ski from Katschberg (the furthest West of the Lungau ski slopes) right over the top of Aineck and down to St Margarethen, where you’ll find one of the area’s best apres-ski bars! Katschberg and Aineck combined cover about 70km of piste, which have also received recognition in the travel industry for the clarity of their signage and the quality of the piste grooming.
Aineck’s pistes are generally quite wide and forgiving – mostly blues and reds – making it a great spot for carving. They’re served by an excellent combination of gondolas and chairlifts, which can carry up to 24,000 people per hour (which means there’s hardly any waiting) and, for those who are tough enough, it’s possible to ski from the peak right down to the valley without stopping – a piste of 6km. We dare you!
What may also be of interest are some of Aineck’s other features, which include a Half Pipe, a 1.5km floodlit toboggan run, 17 Alm huts and mountain restaurants, free night skiing (with musical accompaniment!) and cross country skiing. There won’t be much time for getting bored!
