Hi Jodi (and Team),
We had an incredible break and the slopes didn’t disappoint. Chalet 4 is beautiful and the comfort and attention to detail within St Martins Complex including the Sauna is quite extraordinary. All the girls were very impressed and we shall certainly be booking up again next year (once all the Daddies confirm their availability for childcare) . Thanks for making “Mummy Downtime” so much fun. We felt so relaxed, comfortable and even adapted to the Sauna (well some of us). We had lots of laughs and my body still aches now……..

I planned for almost a year to find the perfect place to complete the #1 item on my Bucket List. I had aspired to dive in the GrunerSee. St Martin Chalets made it come true. They were able to do anything that I needed or wanted. When I arrived, they had already contacted a divemaster for me (Leo Maierhuber was wonderful). The area is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Now, I have added another thing to my Bucket List: returning to St Martin Chalets!

There is one problem with a St Martin chalet, once you are in, you never want out. Life is so easy with the food delivered, restaurants taken care of and in case you run out of wine a handy racks full at the reception. The comforts of your own home, the family around you, the amazing food of Lungau region, the laid back atmosphere and the magic scenery. We went twice and we are looking to return again and again and again.

What is there not to like? 5* accommodation, great hosts and more things to do than you can shake a stick at. Currently sitting in the Panorama Alm drinking coffee whilst brushing the fresh powder off the jacket

The greatest place for an action packed holiday, just to chill out or anything in between. So much to do in beautifull surroundings.
Hi Jodi, I just wanted to thank you again for a wonderful stay at St. Martin Chalets. Zirbe 3 was just perfect – very comfortable and homely, well equipped with everything we could possibly need and very important to mention – it was pristine clean! Everyone was so helpful it made our stay much more enjoyable. We will recommend you to all our friends and family and hopefully will be able to visit again very soon.
I hope you like the photos – we were amazed at the extreme weather conditions one minute bright sunshine and the next heavy snow – the kids loved it! I had to take a picture of the huge and delicious pastries that
were delivered to our doorstep for breakfast one morning. We also enjoyed seeing all the houses with their Easter decorations hence the wooden bunnies covered in snow (I’ve asked my husband to make some for me as he is a carpenter). We are still recovering from the adrenalin rush from Herby’s snow-biking lesson! Thanks again and with our very best wishes to you all from the Purcell Families.
Lovely guests (you know who you are!), USA:
Dear Jodi, I hope this email finds you well. You were right, Lungau has captured our hearts! We are hoping to return in the summer of 2015, if you have availability and would consider having us again. Our girls keep asking if we can go back to the chalet. We keep answering, “we hope so!” Our time there this summer was so good for each one of us. We absolutely fell in love with your chalets and the Lungau region. We miss being there terribly! Returning again is very high on our priority list. Thank you for making your dream of St. Martin Chalets a reality that we could take part in. What a WONDERFUL thing you’ve created! :-).
Our family of 7 adults stayed in Chalet Zirbe for a week in January, and it was wonderful! The service provided by everyone involved was nothing but outstanding, the chalet is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They were so helpful in terms of ski gear rental, taxi bookings, excursion bookings etc, that it was a pleasure staying there. And we loved all the extras, including the bio box and the fresh bread daily!! Well done!
Hi Jodi, This [SMC’s pre-arrival shopping service] is a brilliant service and we feel very spoilt as we have never had this offered to us before in any of the chalets we have previously stayed in. Thanking you in advance for organising our shopping. See you very soon.
Hello Jodi, I’m sorry that I was not able, what with rushing about and marshalling people and stuff, to say goodbye and thank you to you on Saturday. We really had a great time at St. Martin; the skiing was great and the whole package that you have there, including Den’ s and Gabi’s services, made the whole experience easy and so enjoyable. The chalets are great and your hospitality was second to none. We really felt well looked after. Thank you. We thought that the area must be beautiful in the Summer – we may try to spend a Summer holiday there some time. I could bang on about how great it was, but you’ve heard it all already, I’m sure. I hope all continues to go well for you; I shall keep an eye on the website for any developments. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity for a marvellous time
Hi Jodi, Thanks for all your suggestions. We have just got back after 4 very enjoyable days in Austria and left the parents and friends there until the end of the week. The Golf Club was very hospitable and the course in good order. We had e-biking, horse drawn carriage tour, May day celebrations together with the customary pole climbing..!! We also fitted in a tour of Mauterndorf Castle and some very good quality evening meals – all at the “dead time of year….!!” Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip and we have definitely got a few more Austrian converts…!! It appears that everyone seems to love the place once you get them there and see what it has to offer together with the scenery..!! I’m sure “the oldies” will be pleased to take it a bit easier with a little more golf and a leisurely trip to Salzburg.

We stayed for 1 week at this resort in Chalet#10 (2 families sharing). What an amazing experience. The place is located in the most beautiful surroundings, and is high quality everything, from the spacious buildings and beautiful grounds in autentic austrian style, comfortable beds and living quarters, kitchenware and equipment right down to the wine opener. Location is fantastic with hikes on mountains all around. The kids made friends with kids from other chalets and played international kick-the- can every day. Management was super helpful and it was just a great pleasure to stay there. If we ever go back to austria again (from Canada) this is where we will return.

Dear Jodi and Herby , We would just like to say we had the most wonderful holiday while staying at the beautiful chalet. It was so idyllic and peaceful, while offering so many activities in the area. We all loved the e-bikes and being able to discover heights we would never have reached without them! The white water rafting was an amazing experience too….. I wish I shared my boys’ lack of fear but so glad I achieved it all. Thank you for your kind and helpful hospitality during our stay and we look forward to returning again.
Hello Jodi, Thank You for wonderful time in Lungau. Our chalet was perfect and sauna gave us more power to skiing. We have a problem with recycling, but we tried to do our best. In Poland we have just started with sorting trash.
Gwyn and Hilary:
Hi Jodi, Sorry this has taken a while, we’re back in the thick of things over here! Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our visit to St Martin Chalets and to thank you for accommodating all our needs, especially my tooth falling out on those delicious Austrain rolls!! We found the chalet very comfortable and nicely appointed to a very high standard, pity we had to come home! Lungau was beautiful with lots of things to do for winter and summer, we’ve told all the family and friends to come and see you …… unsure though which season they will choose. We thought your project was truly impressive and has clearly involved you both in a lot of hard work and effort and still does! Thank you once again – we’ll try not to leave it too long before we are back.
Thanks for a lovely holiday. We all had a thoroughly good time. I think that your weekly activity programme is excellent, full of ideas of things to do and places to go. I really enjoyed the organised walks and would happily have done more but didn’t want to push my luck with the family! Thanks for sorting out the bike hire for us from Hapimag and booking us on the rafting. It is an excellent service that you offer. The chalet was beautiful and well equipped and the children enjoyed the job of recycling. The grounds are a pleasure to be in and we all enjoyed the produce. I think that having the bread delivered was fabulous, nothing like fresh bread for breakfast. Lots of friends have been interested in our holiday this year so I’ll be passing your details on and recommending you.

Dear Jodi and Herby, We have just returned from a fortnight staying at #3 St Martin Chalets in St Michael in Lungau. The chalet was extremely comfortable and well equipped – our fridge was stocked on arrival and everywhere was clean and utterly charming. The beds were outstandingly comfortable, as was the corner sofa area downstairs. All the chalets are appointed in the same way; the downstairs area being open plan with a central wood burning fire. The picture box balconies had vibrant geraniums spilling over. St Martin was a great base for a summer holiday; little did we expect the friendliness and encouragement of Jodi and Herbie to seduce us into so many group activities such as waterfall walks, summit hikes, e-biking, a sun-rise walk, rafting, tobogganing, wine tasting and archery to name but a few. Jodi and Herbie are superb hosts and nothing is too much bother. Herbie is fastidious about recycling, making it very easy for us Brits to do likewise in this pretty eco-hamlet. The chalets all have mountain spring water via taps. The combination of this water and mountain grazed cow’s milk makes the best cup of tea we’ve tasted! We swam in the local pool, played crazy golf and enjoyed knowing we were sharing the locals’ summer activities. We were spoilt for choice in terms of eating out, but were equally happy to eat in, being able to make full use of the kitchen and utensils. We found time to read, switch off, stay in touch via wi-fi and our son helped Herbie to remove large stones that had found their way into the natural pond, an attractive water feature in the middle of St Martin Chalets. We picked vegetables, fruit and herbs from the garden and enjoyed our own patio area as well as the communal camp fire.
The little known and unspoilt Lungau region has stunning views, from valley floor to mountain summit. Everywhere was so clean, no litter, houses and gardens were immaculate and the expected method of payment in the gasthof was in cash, no cards: simple pleasures made for a thoroughly relaxing and invigorating active family holiday in Austria.
Anna, Mark, Eve and Gemma:
Hi Jodie, Herbie and Jimbo! Sorry it’s taken me such a long time to get round to sending this recommendation, but we just wanted to say a really big thank you for all the effort you and Herbie went to to make our stay at the chalets so wonderful. We all had an amazing holiday and you really helped to take the stress out of everything. Thanks for the repeated use of your car, taking us tobogganing (loved it!), dubious thanks for the snow biking (I was hopeless!) and thanks for the numerous lifts Herbie gave us (which saved us having to deal with whiney kids – and some grown-ups too!). And a very big thank you for stocking up our fridge, freezer and alcohol supplies before we arrived – it made so much difference just to be able to get on with our holiday straight away (but next time, we’ll just ask for essentials and get a car so we can get the rest in ourselves!). Thanks again and all the best – we will recommend you!!!

Dear Jodi, Being ‘skiing virgins’ last year we haven’t got anything to compare Lungau with, but when we were looking for a skiing holiday this year all the resorts we looked at seemed busy and commercial. The best thing about St Martin was that fact that it was a real alpine village with traditional buildings, very unspoilt and quiet with beautiful scenery and clear mountain air. We felt very welcome and really appreciated the friendliness of the people that worked on the skilifts and in the restaurants. The Ski instructors were very patient and were brilliant with the children and of course our host was lovely! Being Beginners with a capital ‘B’ it was perfect for us because the slopes were not to busy and we didn’t get in the way when we kept falling down. That sums up why we loved Lungau. We haven’t been able to ski this year but would definitely like to go next year. When do you start taking bookings? Good luck with the new chalets, hope to see you soon
Hi Jodi, Thank you very much for returning the camera! We have great memories about our time in St Martin and I also have written a reminder that you wanted to get back on our request to allocate an option for Sun Jan 2- Sun Jan 9 2011 for a chalet reservation. I am hoping very much to return in 2011 to see if the sauna is up and running and also it is a very good perspective to be already somewhat familiar with the place which is truly a gem. Your chalets are one of the rare places that created this “instantly feeling at home” atmosphere. We were also thrilled by the amount of care you take to welcome your guest such as these little details as the strawberry-lavender jam on the table and the carefully selected weekly program and of course this packed information folder which is truly a great thing to have at hand all these leaflets from neighbouring skiing areas so that is easy to prepare one’s own agenda. As you can see, many thoughts go back (and forth) to “Jodi’s place”. We also enjoyed the chalet catering (great idea by the way) on Thursday very much. Maybe there is a menu option for Kaiserschmarrn in 2011 too Getting the camera back will help to refresh memories and to look forward to our next visit.

We’d be back to Lungau every year if we didn’t have school fees to pay! The reasons we enjoyed Lungau are: it’s small but varied with other resorts close by. Very friendly and helpful ski school and their English is good which is very important especially when instructing kids. Good hearty food after a day’s skiing. Great Spar if you’re self-catering. Pubs very welcoming with an interesting menu. Fantastically easy for us flying from Coventry. Reasonably priced in comparison to other resorts. We enjoyed the quietness, at the end of the day you need to relax. Obviously though Lungau’s biggest asset is you Jodi!
If you’ve been to stay with us, send us your feedback. We’d love to add you to our website and if you have any complaints or suggestions, we will do whatever we can to act on them!
