Our ten luxury chalets are fully equipped for the most demanding self-catering holidaymakers, as well as those who normally prefer hotels and catered Austrian holidays!
This is because we offer guests everything from a pre-arrival food shop and catered chalet meals to fresh bread deliveries each morning. We’ll even chop your (free!) firewood and light your fire each day if you like. Or why not take full advantage of our on-site and guest-only sauna and gym area!?
Our reception is manned at selected times every day, so if you have any questions or want to book activities or restaurants, just drop in and we’ll make the arrangements. Timings are listed in your welcome pack which you’ll find on your dining room table when you arrive.
Shopping, Food & Drink
If you love the idea of a luxury Austrian Alpine Chalet holiday then we offer something a little bit different when it comes to self-catering here in the Austrian Alps. Our food and catering offerings mean you can enjoy the best of both worlds, with all the benefits of a catered chalet holiday but you can eat out in town or get carried away with apres-ski without feeling guilty about missing an evening meal! Read on for all our food and drink options:
Pre-arrival shopping: Our service starts before you even get here. We’ll do a shop for you so that, when you arrive, your fridge and cupboards are already stocked up with fresh, delicious produce from across the Lungau region and our local farmers. After all, who wants to arrive to an empty fridge?! Before you arrive, we’ll send you a simple shopping list with common requirements like jam, milk, ham, cheese and eggs so all you need to do is tick which you’d like and send it back. We charge a minimum fee for this service – we’ll simply add the cost of the goods your order to your end of stay bill.
Fresh Bread Delivery: We’ll also deliver fresh bread every morning – if you want it of course. The Austrians are wonderful bakers and their iconic ‘semmel’ rolls are a real favourite with our guests. Prior to your stay we will ask you how many bread rolls you’d like delivering throughout your stay. This can be adjusted at any time throughout your stay. If you’re feeling really naughty, there are all kinds of sweet pastries available too (let’s face it, you’ve probably earned it after a day on the slopes!). We recommend anything with ‘Topfen’, a kind of cream cheese, or with poppy seeds in icing sugar. Delicious!
Wine Cellar and Austrian Wine Tasting (for mum and dad!): We regularly hold wine tastings in the resort and in the winter we generally keep a tub of glühwein on the boil! We also have our own wine cellar, stocked with some fab Austrian wines (which, if you haven’t tried them, are really rather good!) that you’re welcome to purchase from reception or order them prior to arrival.
Chalet (home) Food Delivery: We can also help you arrange food deliveries once you’re in the resort. If we’re doing a shop mid-week we’ll happily collect some provisions for you too. There are also a number of home delivery services available (yes, even in Lungau!). We have menus in reception and, if you’d rather not run the gauntlet of the Austrian take-away service, we’ll happily make a phone call for you.
Cooking: Of course, for those who love cooking, all our chalets are equipped with a lovely kitchen – including full-size oven, grill, hob and more pots, pans, crockery and utensils than you can shake a stick at.
Chalet Catering Service: On the days or nights that you just can’t face cooking, we have the most wonderful solution! Not only is the Mesnerhaus one of the best known restaurants in the region, it Michelin Star quality too! However, as an amazingly special treat, we work with them to offer you, our guests, your very own private 2 or 3-course meal in the comfort of your chalet (€25,00 pp for three courses or €19,00 pp for two courses).
So if you’d like to come back from the slopes – or aprés-ski – one evening and find an incredible dinner waiting for you, we can arrange it. Just tell us what time you’ll be back and we’ll have your supper delivered to your chalet. And the best part? When you’ve finished, just leave the pots on the side and they’ll be collected and washed up by someone else…easy as that!
True Austrian food away from the chalets: If you love your organic and locally made produce then we can direct you to the best Alms and mountain farms for home-baked bread, home-churned butter, home-cured hams and home-made cheeses. Visit our Food & Drink page to plan your indulgence!
Activities and Events
When it comes to exploring Lungau’s Southern Alps, Lungau boasts a packed calendar of local festivals and events all-year-round that you simply won’t find in other parts of Austria!
When you arrive in your chalet, you will find a guide to any events or festivals taking place but also what activities are available to our guests. All these vary from week-to-week, depending on what’s happening and the season, with everything totally optional but the guide will give you everything you need to know and what costs, timings and locations are involved. You can then dip in as you please unless you have already pre-booked some activities!
Naturally we offer a whole host of Winter Holidays including skiing & snowboarding where we will happily help organise your lift pass, equipment and even arrange ski school for your little ones. However Lungau also boasts plenty to do during the summer months too, including hiking, mountain biking, golf holidays or some activities that will help you get fit and healthy! Find out all you need on our Summer Holidays pages or navigate direct using the drop down menus.
As you can imagine, we only work with the best and safest local guides and companies so you will always be in good hands!
Ski and Sports Equipment Hire
We’ll help arrange your Lungau ski & sports equipment hire via our trusted partner Black Magic hire if you want, who also provide a ski and boot fitting service on-site at our Chalets, saving you the hassle of visiting a ski hire shop.
Our Private Sauna & Gym
We have an on-site sauna and a gym equipped with a rowing machine, cross trainer, exercise bike and free weights. Both are private and for guest use only.
Massage and Swimming Pool
We work with a masseur who will come to the chalets upon request, while spa treatments are available at a very good local hotel, with access to their swimming pool too – see more here >>

Hospitals, railway stations and car hire
Slightly further afield is Tamsweg – the region’s capital city. Here you’ll find bigger businesses, as well as the hospital, railway station and various car hire outlets. Many of our guests hire cars at the airport but if you’d prefer to get here first, then hire a car for touring, you can do that in Tamsweg.
Whatever you need, we can point you in the right direction.
