Lungau Ski touring trips lungau austria alps st martin chalets

The snow is here, 2013!

Well folks, it’s well and truly here. It’s the third week in December and we have LOTS of snow in the Lungau region of the Austrian Alps. We have enjoyed a visit from St Nicholas (which is pleasing the kids) and survived the terrible Krampus – a mythical beast-like creature, who hunts out naughty children on the first weekend of each December, then hits them with sticks, or even carries them away never to be seen again!

And you wondered why Austrian children are so well behaved!!

Anyway, the season is now underway and it’s looking like being a very busy one. if you’re like me, you probably need to keep some kind of to do list, so as not to lose track… Well, here’s my current one.

To do list - go skiing

Teehee. In all seriousness though, if you still want to ski this season and you haven’t booked yet, have a think about March or April – avoiding Easter if you can. They’re our quietest months, so you’ll have a much better chance of empty chalets and empty slopres… and you’re more likely to squeeze a free day on our snow bikes out of us. keep it to yourself though, ok?

If we don’t speak to you, have a smashing December and a wonderful Christmas, and we’ll look forward to catching up with you in the New Year.
