Cycling around St Michael im Lungau

Cycling from St Martin Chalets to the Göriach Valley

You can reach the Göriach Valley by cycling through Tamsweg but there is quite a bit of traffic through this busy town so the following route takes you around the outskirts and you only have to cross the main road at one point.

Göriach Cycle Route 1

At the junction above, turn left, go over a small river, cycle for a few more yards.

After you go over the new bridge, turn right and carry along a new path by the side of the river and camping site. Continue over a wooden bridge, turn left and then go over a new bridge.

Göriach Cycle Route

Go past an old wooden house and take a grassy path (above) by the side of the house until you join the path. Go straight through the timber yard towards a small railway bridge.

Finally, as shown above, go under the railway bridge and turn left. Follow the main road through St Andrä and take a right hand road signposted Göriach, which climbs up to Hintergöriach and then onto the Göriach Hut Village. There is a restaurant at St Andrä and at Hintergöriach and two small huts selling traditional food at the hut village at Göriach. The E-bike batteries can be re-charged here.
