If you visit Lungau for an Austrian winter or ski holiday the fact is, despite your good intentions, you’ll probably find it difficult to ski all five of the ski areas here, including the Fanningberg Ski Area.
We have guests who return here year after year and they still haven’t made it up to Fanningberg ski area! But they (and you) really should give it a try.
Next to the lovely snow on Speiereck and the huge ski region at Obertauern, Fanningberg might seem like it’s not worth skiing, but it’s a real favourite with us locals. The tree-lined pistes are really interesting and enjoyable and, because the neighbouring slopes are better known, Fanningberg’s 26km of runs are often half empty!
What’s more, Fanningberg has one of the longest 6-seat chairlifts in Austria – spanning a massive 2.1km in length, 500 metres in height and carrying 100 chairs. It’s the modern and heated 6-seater SAMSONBAHN and ZIRBENJET chairlifts providing quick, convenient access to exceptionally groomed slopes with all levels of difficulty.
It’s also perfect for Austrian family ski holidays in Lngau, with plenty to keep the youngsters entertained. In the KinderPark they can tumble about in the snow, play with well-known fairy-tale figures and enjoy learning the basics of skiing. The ski schools are also brilliantly organised so your kids will come away having mastered the basics of skiing plus amazing wintertime memories!
