Enjoy ski holidays in Obertauern in the Austrian Alps and you will enjoy the best-known ski resort in the Lungau ski region, with your ski pass also offering up to 250km of piste access.
A purpose-built skiing and snowboarding destination, Obertauern is our largest single ski area, boasting 100km of runs. Although not quite as high as Speiereck, Obertauern’s runs all sit within a giant natural basin, meaning that you are always skiing back down towards the town. This – combined with the positioning of the ski lifts – makes it possible to ski around the resort both clockwise and anticlockwise, which is known as doing the “Tauern round”. Just as impressive, the Obertauern ski lifts are open from the end of November right through until the beginning of May.
Obertauern Ski Pass
Anyone coming to St Michael who wants to ski Obertauern should pick up the Lungo ski pass, which is very reasonable compared to many of the more famous resorts. This gives you access to all five of the ski areas in the region, all of which are linked by our free ski bus service. Check up to date prices here:
