Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, snowbiking, snow shoeing or cross country skiing then st martin chalets is the perfect base for your winter holidays in the Austrian Alps!
Many of our guests travel with groups of friends and family, staying in one or more of our authentic Austrian chalets in Lungau, one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas in Austria, which is still very much the same today as it has been for decades.
Proof of this is that it was recently recognised as an official UNESCO Biosphere area, based on the local people’s ability to exist here without having a negative impact on the environment. What’s more, the region is easy to reach. You can travel from and fly to Salzburg and Munich to the north and Klagenfurt and Italy to the south, and there’s no arduous drive or connection – we’re only about an hour’s transfer from both Salzburg and Klagenfurt airports (more flight and travel info here).

Location
Lungau is a great place to free ski or to learn and the ski school here employs native English speakers as well as Austrians. What’s more st martin chalets is situated right in the heart of the five ski areas: a 2-minute walk from the ski bus stop, a 5-minute walk from the Speiereck gondola lift, and a ten-minute walk into the bars and restaurants of St Michael. It’s ideal for exploring Austria’s nature and culture – both on the piste and off, which is one reason why many of our guests return to us for their winter holidays year after year.
Things To Do
There’s always something to do here, whether you come mid-winter and there’s 2 metres of fresh powder or you come at either end of the season and there’s just a sprinkling. It’s about way more than just alpine skiing. And despite the resort being essentially self-catering winter holidays, we are still very much hands-on. You can find us in the resort every afternoon and we’re out with guests more or less every day – either ski guiding on the mountain, or leading people through the woods on snow shoes.
We also offer plenty of catering and food options too though, if you’re not overjoyed at the thought of cooking every night yourself!
Lungau Skiing & Snowboarding winter holidays
The ‘Lungo’ ski pass covers more than 250km of pistes – a mixture of greens, blues, reds and blacks, which are suitable for skiers of all abilities – from beginner to expert. Lungau is right in the heart of Austria’s Southern Alps and enjoys snowfall from both the north and the south, which makes ours one of the most snow-sure resorts in Austria. What’s more, all five of our ski areas offer something different – from the wide, open pistes of Fanningberg to narrow tree-lined runs filled with bumps and jumps on Speiereck, to the rolling carving pistes on Aineck. You can experience something entirely different almost every day, while you’re never far away from some wholesome Austrian nourishment or a warming glass of schnapps. We also offer a comprehensive ski and snow board equipment hire service, where fitting can take place in your chalet if you wish. which you can request
